In a determined effort to combat the rising drug menace, the Punjab Police, under the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, launched a massive statewide anti-drug operation. Raids were conducted at 750 locations as part of the "Yudh Nashia Virudh" (War Against Drugs) campaign, involving 12,000 police personnel.

1. Three-Month Deadline to Make Punjab Drug-Free

  • Aman Arora: Ludhiana, Patiala, Kapurthala, Mohali, Amritsar, Jalandhar.

  • Taranpreet Singh Sond: Sangrur, Barnala, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Moga, Malerkotla.

  • Laljit Singh Bhullar: Faridkot, Muktsar, Fazilka, Mansa, Ferozepur.

Comprehensive Strategy: Law Enforcement and Rehabilitation

1. 360-Degree Approach

  • The government has adopted a multi-faceted approach, addressing both the supply and demand sides of the drug crisis.

  • Alongside law enforcement, focus is placed on de-addiction and rehabilitation programs for individuals suffering from addiction.

2. Rehabilitation Efforts

  • Health Minister Balbir Singh will oversee drug de-addiction and rehabilitation efforts.

  • The health department is working to treat individuals with addiction as patients, not criminals, providing them with medical support and rehabilitation services to reintegrate them into society.

3. Support from Social and Religious Groups

  • Minister Aman Arora urged religious organizations, social groups, and political leaders to unite in the fight against drugs.

  • He stressed the need for collective support from the state's 3 crore citizens to completely uproot the drug trade.
