Puducherry Lt Governor K Kailashnathan reaffirmed that the territorial administration is fully committed to implementing all centrally sponsored schemes, particularly those aimed at farmers, to enhance their livelihoods.

Speaking at a farmers' gathering on Monday after viewing the live telecast of the 19th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) programme from Bhagalpur, Bihar, he underscored the role of these schemes in alleviating the impact of natural disasters such as floods, cyclones, and droughts.

Kailashnathan highlighted key initiatives like the Minimum Support Price (MSP), PM-KISAN, and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), emphasizing their significance in addressing challenges faced by the agricultural sector.

He pointed out that the Puducherry government had provided compensation of ₹30,000 per hectare for crop losses caused by last year’s cyclone and heavy rains, benefiting 1,295 farmers across Puducherry, Karaikal, and Yanam.
