Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena announced on Tuesday that the newly formed Delhi government would adopt the Viksit Delhi Sankalp Patra as its guiding document to fulfill promises made to the people.

Addressing the eighth Delhi Assembly, Saxena outlined the administration's vision and priorities, emphasizing corruption-free governance, women's empowerment, a cleaner city, Yamuna rejuvenation, and access to clean drinking water.

He attributed Delhi's stalled progress to a decade of political clashes and blame games and stressed that the new government would coordinate with the Centre and other states to ensure effective governance.

Saxena listed key focus areas, including improved education, poverty alleviation, world-class roads, pollution control, regularization of unauthorized colonies, and enhanced public welfare. Departments have been directed to draft 100-day action plans to implement these priorities.

Additionally, the government will present Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports during the assembly session to assess the shortcomings of the previous administration and develop an improvement strategy.

Criticizing the AAP-led dispensation, Saxena asserted, “My government's primary objective is to dismantle the sub-par system hidden behind excessive advertising and restore effective governance.”

During his address, Speaker Vijender Gupta expelled 12 AAP MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Atishi, for disrupting proceedings by raising slogans. Among those expelled were Gopal Rai, Veer Singh Dhingan, Mukesh Ahlawat, Chaudhary Zubair Ahmed, Anil Jha, Vishesh Ravi, and Jarnail Singh.

Following her expulsion, Atishi accused the BJP of disrespecting BR Ambedkar, claiming that the new government had removed his portrait from the chief minister’s office at both the Delhi Secretariat and the assembly.

“By taking down Babasaheb Ambedkar’s portrait, the BJP has shown its true colors. Do they think Modi can replace Babasaheb?” she said at a press conference.
