Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday emphasized the transformative impact of India’s Act East Policy on the North Eastern Region, particularly highlighting the infrastructural and economic advancements in Arunachal Pradesh.

Speaking at the First Ever Joint Mega Nyokum Yullo Celebration at Kamporijo Circle in Kamle District, Dhankhar noted the region’s improving connectivity through air travel, railways, roads, and digital networks.

He pointed out Arunachal Pradesh’s vast hydropower potential of 50,000 MW, presenting an investment opportunity worth Rs 5 lakh crore. He also acknowledged Union Minister Kiren Rijiju’s efforts in effectively bringing the state’s concerns to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attention and encouraged stakeholders to capitalize on development opportunities while safeguarding cultural traditions.

For the first time in India’s history, the Buddhist community has been granted minority status, Dhankhar said, adding that a Buddhist leader now holds a Cabinet Minister position—an achievement he described as a globally significant message.

Highlighting India’s rich cultural unity, he remarked, “From Nyokum Yullo in Arunachal to Holi, Baisakhi, Bihu, and Pongal across the country, our traditions are woven together.” He also reaffirmed India’s strong global standing, asserting that “no one can cast an evil eye on us,” attributing this strength to PM Modi’s leadership and Rijiju’s continued role in national governance.

Commending Rijiju’s vision, he cited the Frontier Highway project as a pivotal step in Arunachal Pradesh’s development. Reflecting on his past visits, Dhankhar expressed admiration for the state’s vibrant tribal culture and deep patriotic spirit.

The event saw the presence of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, MLA Rotom Tebin, Nyishi Elite Society President Tana Showren, Tani Supun Dukun President H K Shalla, and other dignitaries.
